The Quinolone Vigilance Foundation (QVF), which is being established as a non-profit foundation to combat the problem of quinolone toxicity, announces the creation of the foundation’s Ambassador Program. The Ambassador Program is designed to encourage individuals to serve as advocates and spokespersons to represent the cause of quinolone toxicity to their particular state, geographic region, or country. QVF ambassadors, simply put, are pro-bono volunteers who take positive action to support the QVF’s mission which is to “understand and reduce Quinolone Toxicity as a cause of human suffering in the world.” As a QVF Ambassador you can perform numerous duties including raising public awareness, networking with other quinolone victims, organizing support meetings, working with local media and elected officials, providing support to other victims, educating medical professionals, and identifying sources of possible funding.

QVF’s ambassadors must be familiar with quinolone toxicity and committed to fulfilling the QVF’s mission and exhibit integrity, courtesy, and respect when representing the QVF. As a QVF ambassador you will be provided with the most current information that the QVF has available on quinolone toxicity, when it becomes available, so that you may present a consistent message to those with whom you interact. If you are interested in the QVF Ambassador Program contact the Ambassador Coordinator Ms. Lori McCandlish at lori@saferpills.org

People in the FQ community are confronted with all types of injustice. After a while they can get mentally and physically worn down and say, “that’s just the way things are.” They give in to the dominant narrative of the FQ culture that says that others have power but we do not. The ‘others’ could be medical professionals, corporations, or politicians. When the assumption of “that’s just the way things are” is believed it normalizes the existing power structure and makes it appear unchangeable.

The Quinolone Vigilance Foundation seeks to unite all those in the FQ community and focus our energy toward shared goals. To accomplish these goals we must be willing to take risks and have a vision of what our community can look like with our goals accomplished. Others in the community have started to take historic steps to forge new inroads into the medical research community, but these were only first steps. To succeed, our entire community must unite, despite our differences, and resist the despair and overcome the apathy.

David Melvin
